In reply to Nona Hanson. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it, Nona! I'm sorry about the sugar portion. The actual instruction does just say 1 teaspoon of sugar in with the yeast. I have something enabled that pulls down the ingredients underneath. I will see if I can edit that for more clarity. :)

Had a lot of success with the dough and the braid. But at 375 degrees, 20 minutes was not nearly long enough to bake. I will bake for at least 30 minutes next time. (My children insisted I not put it back in the oven and happily ate the gooey undercooked sweet dough.)

Also you should take the “1/3 cup (70 g)” out of step 2 and put it in step 3. Even after watching the video, I was confused about how much sugar to put in at each step. The yeast didn’t mind the extra sugar so it worked out.

This recipe works wonderfully using vegan ingredient’s just substitute the butter and milk. I use Just Eggs for the wash

The best bread recipe I’ve tried so far! Instead of a layer of course sugar on top, I sprinkled garlic powder and rosemary, and it is a perfect savory twist. The crisp exterior and soft interior makes it perfect for dipping in olive oil. Overall, great recipe, I will be using it again!

Made this beautiful bread today. I must say, I was quite intimidated by the braid, but I watched the video, and it looked doable, so I tried it out. It was so much easier than I had thought initially, and I had it braided in just a few short minutes. It is baking now and smells amazing. Looking forward to having some with a hot cup of coffee.
