Hi Erika! You can use dark chocolate chips. I wouldn’t adjust the cream. 🙂

Could dark chocolate/chips be used the make the ganache instead of semi-sweet? If so, would you still use just the same amount of cream, or would it need more or less cream and/or other ingredients added? Thank you!

For the crust it came to 10.5oz of cookies without the filling on my digital scale.

I have to say thank you for this recipe because it survived a comedy of errors in my kitchen and still came out absolutely delicious! I used a 10″ springform instead of the called-for 9″, accidentally preheated to 350°F and started baking before catching my mistake halfway through (dropped it to 325 once I realized), and had to swap the sour cream for a mix of 2 parts ricotta to 1 part Greek yogurt after my sour cream spoiled. I also went rogue on the Oreos themselves, using golden Oreos instead of classic, and made a white chocolate ganache for the topping where I mixed in the Oreo filling I’d scraped out of the cookies for the crust.

Despite all of that, the cheesecake set up beautifully and had the creamiest texture. The golden Oreo crust paired with the white chocolate ganache (with that little hit of Oreo filling swirled through) was such a fun twist on the original. This recipe is clearly well-built if it can handle this many substitutions and oven mishaps and still turn out this good. Will definitely be making again, probably exactly as written next time just to see how it compares!

Hi Aaron! I have honestly never even seen just the crumbs of the cookies. I have never weighed them after I scraped the center out so unfortunately I don’t have a good answer for you. 🙁

Thank you for sharing this recipe!!!

I made it yesterday and we ate it today. It went over so well! I’m the biggest cheesecake critic in the family and I was soooooo happy with the results. I have made so many cheesecakes using so many recipes and even though Oreo flavor isn’t my favorite cheesecake flavor, this was still my favorite cheesecake I have ever made. I will DEFINITELY check out your other recipes.

Thank you again for this one and I look forward to making my family happy with more from your site! ❤️

We make a gluten free version of this in our house by using gluten free Oreos. For the crust I use 7TBS of butter. It needs the extra butter to hold it together. Thank you for the lovely recipe! No one can tell it’s GF either!!

Amazing and perfectly creamy, would definitely make again! It took exactly the time quoted in the recipe with no cracking and no gooeyness. I skipped the foil lined sheet and had no issues at all with leaking. I think shrinkflation got to Oreos though because I used a family pack and didn’t have enough for what the recipe called for. I just cut a few from the crust and a few from the filling and it was still enough so that neither seemed lacking. Thanks for a great recipe!

Hi Sarah! The foil lined baking sheet is to catch any leaking from your springform pan. They are notorious for leaking and it helps stop the mess in your oven. You could certainly do it without the pan if you’d like. 🙂

Hi Silvia! The cheesecake can be stored for up to 5 days after adding the ganache. Hope that helps!

Should I wait to add the ganache shortly before eating or can I still store the cake in the fridge for half a day after adding the ganache?

In reply to Nuralx.

Did the recipe last week it was amazing. It tastes just like cheescake. I ran out of oreos so the cheescake filling itself wasn’t too oreo flavored but it was great. Wish I could put a photo below.

Hi Alyssa! The 10 inch will work, but the bake time will be reduced. I haven’t personally done it so I can’t say for sure how long to bake it.

I’m excited to try this recipe this weekend for a birthday party! Question- I have a 10 inch springform pan that I am using will that negatively affect the recipe in any way?

Hi Margaret! I’m not sure how making it in a regular cake pan will work. It will be difficult to get it out of the pan. You’d also want to make sure the pan is deep enough to hold all of the batter. It could change your bake time as well.
