I made these last year and colored the white chocolate green for the Grinch and put a heart on top for the decoration.

Kristen,
I actually usually use double stuff. The gluten free ones were delicious! I was banned from bringing them to church again because they were sooo good! 🙂 The gluten free Oreos are good but don’t have much filling, you need to buy the double stuff gluten free ones to get a decent amount of filling. I’ve never added vanilla to mine. That’s interesting.

Oooh now I’m curious how using double stuff vs. regular changes the flavor/consistency! How did they turn out?

Hi Denise! Unfortunately I did not weigh them when I made them so I can’t say for sure, but if you use a 1.5 tablespoon scoop you should get about 32. 🙂

happy Holidays!

Hi PJ! Yes absolutely, I like 60% or semisweet, or you could even use white chocolate. That chocolate takes longer to set and sometimes the chocolate gets a bit streaky (white streaks in it) after it dries but that doesn’t affect the taste and it’s still totally fine to eat. Enjoy!

I can’t find melting wafers in my local Walmart. Could I just melt down the baking bars from Ghirardelli to use to dip the balls in? Same amount in grams?

Great recipe!!! Easy to make and delicious—made these for my colleagues, and they LOVED them. Didn’t have chocolate melting wafers on hand, so made my first attempt at tempering bars of Bakars semi-sweet chocolate. Will definitely make again. Thank you for sharing your recipes and making them easy to follow!

I haven’t tried it but that should work. I would put parchment paper down because the center is pretty soft and moist and you don’t want it to stick to the pan. Let me know how it goes. 🙂

My whole family loved these! Have you ever pressed the dough into a pan and covered it with the melted chocolate to make squares instead of balls? Would that work? Thanks!
