Doubt I’d ever do that again. I will try this once more using bagged caramel bits. Hopefully they won’t be as gummy and run out of the cookies. I did tuck as suggested. Of the 20 cookies only 9 were presentable. The rest were a major mess. Thank heaven for parchment! I like the taste so I’m going to give it a few if my own tweaks from my 75+ years of baking experience before I remove it from my recipe book, but this is DEFINITELY a cookie you should bake for yourself, just for fun, before you plan to use it as a gift or other presentation.follow directions and look at the video!

Hi Ruth! Yes there is a way to favorite recipes on my site. There is a little heart icon on the right hand side of the screen. If you click that button it will add it to your favorites. You can make an account and they’ll all be right there whenever you come to my site. 🙂

The bacon will definitely soften the longer it sits in the dough. I hope you love these! 🙂

My question; will the crispy bacon go soft and chewy if refrigerated that long?

Thx in advance 🙂

See is a browned butter fanatic and anything with bacon. I will get around to making them for my son’s 5 children. I learned about browned butter from my mother in law back in the 70’s. She would brow butter to make the cake and caramel frosting for a Burnt Sugar cake. I have not mastered it and I don’t know any one that has. Her icing was creamy. The icing on the ones I have made turns out stiff. I have bought a couple from supposedly talented cake people. The icing was so stiff, it would have taken a saw to cut them. The cake and the icing both are made with browned butter. She would find any excuse to not let me watch her make it.

By the time my bacon is cooked to “crispy”, there’s not much left of it. And it’s kind of tough, too. It looks nothing like yours. Yours looks delicious!

No need to chill this dough. You can freeze it if you’d like. 🙂

D***, yum! Easy! Followed directions as noted, but did it in slow mode on my KitchenAid blender so I didn’t break an arm or a spoon! SO yummy! One note, these suckers SPREAD when they cook so don’t try to do more than 12 on a baking sheet, otherwise it will be a giant cookie! A delicious cookie, but what the heck!?! Really yummy! Def going into the rotation of late night snacks!

My first try of this recipe, my cookies were a little thin and soft for my liking. For the next batch, I adjusted the recipe, removing 2 tbsp of butter and adding 1/4 cup flour for thicker, firmer cookie. Rolling golf ball sized dough balls, I got about 50 cookies.
For the caramels, I diced some Werther’s chewy. The flavor really comes through, but when they melt, they cling tight to a metal pan. Be sure to use parchment.
For the chocolate, I used semi-sweet mini chip.
For the bacon I diced some pre-cooked bacon from Costco.
These cookies were the hit of a potluck dinner and earned several WOWs!
Thanks for a great cookie recipe.

They were very well received. Great recipe! Had no idea that browned butter would make that big of an impact.
