In reply to Danielle. Hi Danielle! I actually have a cup of dirt recipe that uses a chocolate pudding. Just use that pudding recipe and make it in the cake form. :)

I prefer chocolate pudding in dirt cake; any recommendations for making this a chocolate version maybe just adding cocoa powder to the pudding mix? Thanks! Looooove a good dirt cake lol

Thank you, Sam so much for this homemade dirt cake recipe! My grandson requested dirt cake for his birthday and when I went to the store to get the boxed pudding mix, I read all the ingredients on the back of the pudding box. If that was not disheartening enough, when I read that, it contained a “bio-engineered food ingredient” I knew I just could not make it using the boxed pudding mix. Then I remembered that you had a homemade dirt cake recipe and so I looked up the recipe in the store! Everyone absolutely loved it so much! They could taste the difference and enjoyed the wholesome goodness of your homemade recipe! Thank you for another great recipe! Blessings to you and your family.

In reply to AU. If it was really, really soft it may have needed to be cooked a bit longer, but ultimately it should be very much like a pudding. :)

Mine did not set much at all after a full day in the fridge, so it was more like pudding when served. But we froze the leftovers and it made an excellent ice cream cake.
