Sam, been making these ginger snaps (with the addition of some chopped candied ginger) every year for the last 4 years or so . It’s become a Christmas Eve tradition for me. Love this recipe; they’re absolutely delicious. Thanks so much for making it. Echoing Lindsay’s comments: so helpful to have the measurements IN the instructions.

Hi Sam.
I have been using your recipe for a month or so as my teen daughter requested ginger cookies. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup of brown and added some dark chocolate bits. I very much appreciate that you add the measurements within the instructions. It is something that few recipes do.

In reply to Joanna Reid. I'm so glad they were such a hit, Joanna! I don't have much experience with gluten free flour, but I would think a 1:1 gluten free flour would be a good bet. If you do try it I would love to know how it goes. :)

My daughter loves store bought ginger snaps, but I’m always certain homemade is better for her and tastes better. Searching around on the internet, we kept seeing gingersnap recipes that boasted chewiness or less ginger, but she wanted that deep ginger flavor and all the crunch. When we saw your recipe and tips, we knew it was the right recipe. We used a full tablespoon of ginger and extra pepper and will probably leave off the outer sugar next time, maybe turning down the temp and increasing the time to make up for it. Now I want to see if I can figure out an extra healthy gluten-free version for myself. I’m a molasses fanatic, so I might use that for the majority of the sweetener. Lots of experimenting with small batches I guess. :). Thanks!!

Hi Jonas…. I am curious to know what your recipie looks like with 6 batches. Did you make individual batches 6 times or multiply the recipie? I am always hesitant to multiply batches when I am baking. I would l8kecto know how yours turned out.

ok….to follow up on my last review…. the 2 teaspoon scoop made such a difference. It saved so much time and was easier than scooping twice and combining. And the size comes out consistently correct!
For some reason, I always get more cookies than the 32 stated in recipie but no complaints here…. the family loves these cookies and i think I will have to start doubling the recipie and keeping some in the freezer.

Hi there….. this is Lorraine again.
I wrote awhile ago saying how much we all love this recipie.
Now, 5 or 6 batches later, i am writing to ask where I can find a 2 teaspoon scoop. It looks like i will be making thse pretty regularly, giving them out and freezing them…..if any make it that far. It would be helpful to have a proper sized scoop rather than just using my teaspoon twice. And I’d probably get more consistent sizes.
Are you using a 2 teaspoon scoop or just putting less in a tablespoon scoop.

oh my gosh! I finally found the recipe I’ve been looking for….crisp, snappy and full of flavor! Thank you for that AND thank you for adding the ingredients amounts within the instructions….that is incredible benefit. No more going back and forth between the recipe and instructions.
This is a real family pleaser and my 2nd batch. They will be included in our Christmas cookie platter but I guarantee I making them throughout the year!

This is my GO TO Ginger Snaps recipe. And I spent 7.5 years in Australia so pretty particular about them! I use 2 3/4 tsp ground ginger (DOUBLE is 1 T and 2 1/2 tsp – and double recipe makes 6 dozen). Thank you for sharing this great recipe!

I’ve been looking for a crispy pecan cookie for my husband. I found your gingersnap cookies (crispy, Snappy cookies) I used your gingersnap recipe left the spices out and added 1 cup pecans. They turned out fantastic. Will be making the gingersnaps too a wonderful recipe. Thank YouL

Deliciously spiced traditional crunchy gingersnaps! One of my favorite cookies and everyone else also enjoyed them. Other recipes don’t even have any cayenne pepper in them which is disappointing, as well as the lack of main spices. Glad I went with your recipe, thank you!
