Thank you so much for trying my recipe, Millie! I’m so glad it was such a hit! For baking with convection, the general rule of thumb is to reduce the temperature by 25 degrees. I’m not sure how baking the topping in the cookie will work.

I am trying this recipe for the second time and want to ask a question:
1. I have a convection electric oven should change the heat down 25 degrees or is it necessary?
2. Can I take some of the topping and include it in the cookie dough?

My sonโ€™s coworker mentioned he loved German Chocolate cake and asked if there was a cookie versionโ€”so of course I came here first. Everyone LOVED them. One person even said it might be the best cookie Iโ€™ve made so far (and Iโ€™ve made A LOT of cookies ๐Ÿ˜‚). Thanks for another great recipe!

I have been craving German Chocolate Cake but itโ€™s just so much since there are only two of us so was thrilled when I found this cookie recipe. They are so rich, decadent and delicious! Like Sam said I think we may actually like these better than cake and so much easier to make and store. Thanks for another great recipe!

Hi Laura! Unfortunately they likely wouldn’t turn out the same. The coconut adds moisture here, which is important for the cookie. ๐Ÿ™

Well I had it on low the entire time. So when all was said and done it was too thin to be put on top of a cookie (after sitting in the fridge, adding more nuts and coconut...). So I thought screw it, it's going back on the stove. I put it back on the stove and cooked it until thickened and all was well in the end! Just in case somebody else is dumb like me, just know you can put it back on the stove coconut and all if you jump the gun before it's thick enough ๐Ÿ˜]]> 5 stars
So I’m an imbecile and took the topping off the stove before it was thick enough. I had been stirring for like 40 mins ๐Ÿ˜ซ and thought it has to be done. Well I had it on low the entire time. Hi Sandy! That should be fine, if the topping is too cold and difficult to spread you may need to let it warm up a little bit.

Hi Janna! The topping on these firms up a little, but probably not enough to bag them.

These got high praise from the Post office I work for. Not sure if they replace the Cinnamon Poptart for favorite, because some people don’t like coconut. I am going to try the Strawberry Poptart some day, if my Son will stop eating all the Strawberries. I tried doubling the recipe, but found it difficult to work with and keep the middles centered. Now I half everything and make smaller cookies. It works out great. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful recipes.
