This recipe was so easy to follow and satisfied my funnel cake craving. I substituted whole milk for lactose free milk (I did have to add another 1/2 cup to get a runny consistency) and it made 6 pretty good size funnel cakes. Thank you for this amazing recipe!

Actually our county fair is going on but I don’t go anymore and funnel cake sounded good. They are so easy to make with all the ingredients already in fridge and pantry. Sure beats $8-$10 for just 1.

Hi Michelle! I think almond milk, or a similar nut milk, could work just fine here. Enjoy! šŸ™‚

Hi Shelby! I’m not sure how it would hold up for several days. It’s kind of like pancake batter. It can typically go overnight, but may not be as good several days later.

I also got to thinking these could be made savory too, like a can of green chilies(maybe put in cup before adding milk, for measuring wet, because you can always add more milk. Fine freshly shredded cheese on top!;
or garlic powder and marinara to dip!
thx for your recipe!

Hi Val! Unfortunately, funnel cakes are really best served fresh. They lose the crispiness if kept for too long. I wonder how they would do reheated in an air fryer?

I am especially grateful for your stabilized whipped cream recipe; I bake for large crowds often and it is amazing to be able to know it can be made ahead and have total staying power!

Have you ever made these funnel cakes and then let them cool so that they could be served to a group a few hours later?

I cut the recipe in half as I was having a late night craving and didn’t want too much batter. It was so quick, easy and delicious. I sprinkled powdered sugar over it, but next time I will definitely try cinnamon and sugar. I might even make an apple pie filling to put on top with ice cream. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Thanks for the recipe!

Worked great the first time. Tasty, just like the ones we buy at the amusement park.

This is a great recipe. I made it with 100% whole grain flour and used a mix of soy milk and cream cuz that’s what I had on hand. Added 2 extra tsp baking powder as the whole grain flour is heavy. Next time will 1/2 recipe as this was way too much for a family of 3. I did have to add a lot more milk, and found that it got thicker over time while cooking so I thinned every scoop as well. But this may also be a feature of using whole grain flour. We used grape seed oil to fry. All things considered this may be a once every few years recipe as the fry bread is just really heavy and rich lol. We ate with fresh whipped cream, strawberries and a drizzle of maple syrup. Fun to know how to make if kids request again!

Turned out great. I replaced some ingredients w/ gluten free flour, stevia, nonfat milk, and cinnamon sugar instead of powdered (couldn’t find any powdered at the last minute) and it was still amazing. If anyone’s wondering if they can make this gluten free, they absolutely can.

I have been trying to make funnel cake taste ā€œcarnival likeā€ for years and this was hands-down, the best recipe I ever usednow I will say for the first time I used the canola oil over peanut or vegetable oil and I actually used a thermometer to check the heat and I follow the instruction that said the oil has to be hot every time, but I did follow the recipe to a tea I didn’t compact the flower or anything like that, but I did have to add a little bit more milk, but that was also stated in the recipe anyway my family said it tasted like they were at an amusement Park and I was so flattered.
