In reply to Emily. Hi Emily! You can really use any cooked breakfast meat you like; if you aren't cooking sausage in your pan first, just use 2 tablespoons of butter in place of the grease when cooking your veggies :)

Strata was amazing! One of the best I have ever eaten. I followed directions to the tee and after assembling put in the refrigerator covered tightly with plastic wrap. Next day, popped it in the oven and it turned out perfect! So well balanced. It isn’t heavy, greasy, but flavorful and lovely texture. The peppers and onions really are tasty in there. Highly recommend!

I would like to make your casserole but have someone who does not eat cheese. could I leave the cheese out and put on top of casserole so I can still use all ingredients.

Half sheet pan with 3/4” of water.

Hi! I’m sort of new to your website and haven’t made this yet. Question: could you put a sheet of crescent roll dough underneath everything? How would that change the cooking time? Or do you not recommend that? I have been searching for a good breakfast casserole recipe for a long time and so far yours is the best one I’ve found (that I want to try). I saw a different recipe somewhere that puts crescent roll dough at the bottom (first layer) but there were far fewer ingredients. Thank you for your insight! I’m super excited to try this and other recipes I see here!
