Question- by cooking the beef only about 50% before adding some of the ingredients, do you really not drain fat off the beef? Maybe there’s not enough fat to worry about if using 90% lean? Has excess fat been a problem for anyone who has made this recipe already? Looking forward to making this.

This is my go-to chili recipe, and I always double the batch so we have plenty of leftovers. It doesn’t matter whether it’s hot or cold outside—a big bowl of this chili is the ultimate comfort food. We love serving it with avocado, olives, tortilla chips, sour cream, and shredded cheese. I just made another batch today and froze some for an easy dinner on another night. It’s a family favorite that never disappoints!

Wow two chili cookoffs. Only thing I do different is I use molasses and brown sugar. Also liquid smoke

Excellent!! I make this recipe for chili dogs and omit the broth and it’s the perfect consistency! I actually forgot the broth one time on accident and realized it didn’t need it and great for a thicker chili (i.e. less messy chili dogs). Always a hit!

somehow I made this even better! I did almost a full can of tomato paste (about 150 g) instead of 66 grams. and about a teaspoon more worcestershire sauce, and a half teaspoon more salt. boom!! my kid who is VERY picky said it was even better than the award winning chili we get from the farmers market.

This is by far the BEST chili I have ever made! I was a bit nervous trying a new recipe and making two pounds of meat (I love to always cook extra of everything, less nights of cooking), but I am so darn happy I did because I can’t wait to eat this again! I was also super glad I had just bought bacon. I never would have thought to add bacon to chili but it was delicious! The Worcestershire really adds great flavor so don’t skip it!

Best chili recipe ever. I used 80/20 ground beef and the only thing I did slightly different is I added a couple more slices of chopped bacon and used all of that good rendered bacon fat. Didn’t have any brown sugar so just added sugar and a tablespoon of molasses. Made lots of chili recipes for over 40 years and this is hands down #1. My wife definitely agrees. Thanks so much for this amazing recipe!

I love love this recipe, I did tie for 2nd at my church’s chili cookoff. It was delicious. I did double the recipe and instead of kidney beans, I used S& W pinto beans with seasoning.
