These were amazing. I doubled the filling recipe and used brown butter intead of regular. I also added 1/2 warm heavy cream over the rolls right before baking, and topped each roll with a few slices of caramelized banana on top of the frosting. Fantastic!

In reply to Sam. Hi Sam! I think this recipe is best with active dry yeast, but yes you can use instant. To do so, whisk together the yeast, sugar, 2 cups/250g flour, and salt. Heat the milk and water to 115F (46C) and stir into the flour mixture. Add eggs, bananas, and butter and stir well.

I bake a variety of things and often but have never tried to make cinnamon rolls, they always have intimidated me for some reason. This recipe was very easy and straightforward, they turned out beautifully! So happy.. I omitted the cardamom and wish I would have doubled the icing, but otherwise followed as written. Thanks!

Great cinnamon rolls. They’re soft and moist. The banana flavour comes through. I tested them back to back with 2 other recipes and these were the winners. The dough was very easy to work with. Even though my bananas were ripe I added the extra step of baking them, but wouldn’t do that again. They added too much moisture to the dough and I had to add an additional 90 g flour to get the right consistency. I added cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla to the dough, rolled the dough to a 12×18-inch rectangle, and made a penuche icing instead of cream cheese. The next time I make these I’ll use a larger pan to give them more room to expand. The rolls had significant oven rise and some of the centres popped up.

I made these to share with my office. HUGE win! Everyone loved them. The banana is very mild. I poured heavy cream over them right before baking. They were super soft and fluffy.

This recipe is amazing! I’m so glad I made them… these are the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had. I’m not exaggerating, my husband said the same. I specifically wanted to comment because my mother in law told my husband that these were the best SHE has had as well. That’s one heck of a compliment from a lady that does not give them. I’m never shocked when I bake one of your recipes and it tastes amazing, but this one blew the top of my head off! These banana bread cinnamon rolls are pure fire! I made these today after seeing your YouTube video earlier in the week and my family loves them. So soft, pillowy and melt in your mouth delicious!
